LE:60 Lumen Eclipse Film Festival When: Friday, September 19, 2008 Where: Cambridge, Massachusetts
In lieu of smashing champagne, Lumen Eclipse is christening the newly designed Palmer St. in Harvard Square with a less messy option – a 1-Minute Film Festival. Not to exceed sixty seconds, films will compete to be the first screened at this perennial event.
As ever, Lumen Eclipse’s mission to bring film and video to a public arena is steadfast. Selections will be screened outdoors under the stars, setting submissions free from dark theatres and computer screens.

Spend an Evening with Just Say Love
Booth Theater, Ogunquit, Maine – What better way to end the summer than to fall in love? The wonderfully intimate Booth Theater of the Betty Doone Motel, Ogunquit, Maine, continues its run of original theater works with David Mauriello’s Just Say Love. When Doug and Guy meet on a park bench they think they know the a nswers, but forces beyond their control have something else in mind. Just Say Love ponders the questions of physical attraction and spiritual love, as two men explore the mysteries of their new relationship. After successful runs in Boston and Chicago, Just Say Love, closes its 2008 season at the beautiful resort community of Ogunquit, the home of playwright David Mauriello.
The Portland Phoenix says “Mauriello’s production is not just intelligent and unexpected, but even bewitching. To watch a disbelieving, astounded Guy slowly raises his hands to Doug’s bare chest – and later to see Doug return the gesture – is almost to have witnessed a mystical act.”
Just Say Love runs from August 21- Sept 1, Thursdays through Sundays at 8:00 PM (and Mon Setp 1)at The Betty Doone Motel, 13 Beach Street, Ogunquit, Maine. Tickets for General Admission are $20, senior tickets are $18 and student tickets are $15. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling The Betty Doone Motel, 207-646-8142. Due to adult themes and sexual content, this show is for mature audiences only.
Brian Kirst of the Chicago Free Press states, “Mauriello’s script is ripe with slice of life humor and he nicely blends the joy and awkwardness of the maturing relationship.” Jules Becker of the New England Entertainment Digest says “Mauriello’s two character play is the disarming sleeper of the season, a gay romance that transcends sexual preference issues.”
Playwright David J. Mauriello was awarded a fellowship by the Artists Foundation of Massachusetts for his screenplay Fireflies, and was the winner of the Jane Chambers Memorial Gay Play Contest for But Mostly Because It’s Raining. His ten minute play One Great Big Light is included in the Eileen Heckert Senior Drama Archives at the Lawrence and Lee Theater Research Institute at Columbus State University. Just Say Love, which was nominated as Best Original Play by the Portsmouth’s Herald Spotlight on the Arts and also by the Independent Reviewers of New England will soon be released as a movie.

It’s interesting what a year or a week can make. We used Circuit City and was very impressed with the service we received from their delivery people. This year it was a completely different story. They contract this out. The delivery people were reluctant to do what was written on the slip. Circuit City seem to be pushing their Fire Dog service, but the customer may be treated like the hydrant. Last week we had a very bad experience with one of their people on the phone, but today I went in and had an excellent experience. As with most businesses, the employees can make or break them.
