Newsletter for w/e 11/27/08

If anyone has any information that they want to share with members, let me know so I can include it in the next blog.  If possible please try and send the information several weeks in advance.

Local events

CinemaSalem:

Bolt (PG) will play Friday and Saturday at (12:00), (2:15), (4:30), 7:15 and 9:20; Sunday at (12:00), (2:15), (4:30) and 7:15; and Monday through Thursday at (4:30) and 7:15.

Quantum of Solace (PG-13 - 106 minutes) will screen Friday and Saturday at (11:30 AM), (2:00), 4:45, 7:30 and 9:55; Sunday at (11:30 AM), (2:00), (4:45) and 7:30; and Monday through Thursday at (4:45) and 7:30.

Madagascar 2 (PG) will play Friday and Saturday at (11:00 AM), (1:00), (3:00), (5:00), 7:00 and 9:00; Sunday at (11:10 AM), (1:00), (3:00), (5:00) and 7:00; and Monday through Thursday at (5:00) and 7:00.

They are constructing a Screening Room, which will hold 18-20 people, and will be perfectly sized for small art films, foreign films, documentaries, fringe cinema, local indies, and all sorts of other fare that represents the more cutting edge of the film medium, and which will appeal to our sophisticated audience. It will be open for business in the next 2-3 weeks.

Festivals

Dedicated to independent filmmakers, the International Beverly Hills Film Festival creates a wonderful screening environment allowing participants to feature their films in the highest quality venues available to consumers around the world. Professionals and industry tastemakers representing all facets of the movie industry have been spotted attending year after year. Whether its a short film, documentary, experimental film, or full length feature, we would love the opportunity to screen it!

Users of brand-new aluminum MacBooks are being blocked from playing movies on some external displays because of DRM built into the devices because of Hollywood’s demands.

Office for Mac 2008: Special Media Edition, will sell for just $125 on Nov. 28, compared with its regular list price of $499.95. To receive the discount, shoppers must purchase the software from an Apple store, or from Best Buy Online or Amazon.com. The discount applies only for purchases made on Black Friday — the day after Thanksgiving.
