Guest speaker: Todd Treanor of Treanor Brothers Animation will introduce the RHODE ISLAND PRODUCTION COALITION. The hope for the RIPC will be to connect professional individuals and businesses that can benefit from work created by film, television, video and new media production taking place in and around the state of Rhode Island. As a result, the coalition would be the face of the production industry with the ability to assist with development, advocacy, fundraising, charity and education with regard to production.

INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL OF BOSTON FINAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE!!!

New England’s premier film festival, the Independent Film Festival of
Boston, will take place April 22-28 at the Boston area’s most
historic arthouse cinemas, the Somerville Theatre, the Brattle
Theatre, and the Coolidge Corner Theatre, as well as at Boston’s
newest state-of-the-art theater at the Institute of Contemporary Art.
Over 90 films will be shown alongside of weekend panel discussions
and nightly parties.

The final deadline for submissions is December 31st. IFFBoston is

VIDEOGRAPHERS should have experience across a variety of cameras and formats, including Sony DXC-D30, Panasonic SDX900 and HVX 200 cameras, as well as a thorough knowledge of location lighting including the use of HMI’s. EDITORS should be professional level users of Final Cut 6.02 and Motion 3.0.2. A familiarity with After Effects and graphics animation skills is a plus. PRODUCERS should have strong writing and organizational skills and be able to show examples of client ordered work on their demo reels. PRODUCTION ASSISTANTS should have good working knowledge of production process and equipment. Must have a valid driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record and the ability to lift heavy objects up to 75 lbs.
All interested parties should have strong communication skills and experience working directly with clients.

The parties looking to build movie and television production studios on the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station have signed a deal they say clears the way for construction to begin in August. (In today’s Patriot Ledger)

The MathWorks Inc. and the Museum of Science Boston have partnered to host all-day Free Film Fridays on Jan. 9, 16 and 23, at the Mugar Omni Theater. Visitors are limited to two shows per guest and may pick up tickets on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the show. “A Night on Mars” on Friday, Jan. 9, at 6:45 PM is the first show.

Filmaka.com is now accepting pitches for music videos that could be showcased during the CBS broadcast of the Grammy Awards!
